what would cause the metallic products in our home decor shop to develop a blue inky substance on them?
In january we moved into a new ( remodeled) building. this summer we began noticing that all of our metallic/brass products were developing a blue substance on them that comes off on your hands when you touch it. It is water soluable, it washes right off you hands or out of fabrics. It has a metallic smell, and is even on picture frames that are brass/gold colored of have flakes of that color in them. It is the strangest thing we've ever seen. We took one day and cleaned the whole showroom, washing down with water and a soapy cleaner everything that had this substance on it. Within about 3 weeks is was back. We have had the humitity tested and it was at about 48% what we were told was on the low side of normal. We are suspicious of the AC unit... as there are other issues, such as an odd stench that is worst whenever the AC has ran for a while...Has anyone else ever ran into this? or know what might be causing it? or know how to stop it? Help!
